Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA – some proper details

I know, we do keep moaning about car makers playing tease in the run-up to a car launch. And Alfa has been playing the game recently on the MiTo GTA, releasing a couple of pointless shots of the upcoming MiTo GTA (another Geneva launch). So pointless were they that we didn’t bother with them, but now we have a proper image it’s definitely worth a show.

The Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA - with a huge 240bhp

The Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA is Alfa’s answer to the Mini Cooper JCW – a top of the range, extra powerful car sporting a legendary badge. And it does look like its will be a corker.

The standard trim MiTos are exceptionally good cars, as we noted in our recent review, and this looks set to carry forward the mantle to the proper performance end. Offering a not insignificant 240bhp, its performance should be exceptional, and thanks to a very clever diff, extremely usable.

Carrying over even more styling cues from the achingly beautiful 8C Competizione, the new GTA certainly scores on the looks front. And with prices undercutting the Mini JCW, and residuals on the MiTo range better or equal to those of the Mini, Alfa Romeo could find that the MiTo, and the GTA in particular, flies out of the showrooms.
